Updates to Microsoft Exchange Standard Subscriber Access License (SAL)

Microsoft has added Unified Messaging (UM) capabilities to the Exchange Standard SAL in the April Services Provider Use Rights (SPUR). Service providers who report Exchange Standard SAL may deploy UM services starting April 1 at no additional charge from Microsoft. Please review the latest SPUR.

FAQ (For SPLA Partners): License Mobility through Software Assurance

Today, customers have a range of IT deployment options: on-premises, Microsoft delivered cloud services, and partner delivered cloud services. Microsoft is offering License Mobility through Software Assurance to provide customers the flexibility to deploy certain server applications with active Software Assurance on-premises or in the cloud, without having to buy additional licenses. This change provides customers with additional hosting flexibility and affordability.

What is License Mobility through Software Assurance?
With increasing adoption of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), customers want to move workloads and applications to the cloud without having to acquire additional licenses. For select Microsoft server products, customers can assign certain licenses to a cloud infrastructure for that customer’s use by employing the License Mobility through Software Assurance construct.
Using the License Mobility through Software Assurance option, Microsoft Volume Licensing customers with Software Assurance can deploy certain application servers in a service provider’s shared hardware environment. A partner providing the shared environment can leverage a single delivery platform to host multiple end customers, leveraging the benefits of License Mobility through Software Assurance for their dedicated application server instances.
